I'm sure the argument is that his racist views are subtly "embedded" in everything he's ever written.

I think that's the gist of Charles Mill's argument - still need to read the book. But I'll be open to taking it seriously.

that is the view---from ppl working in a tradition of critique similar to Critical Race Theory. It is a far cry from "Calhoun: was he right or wrong?"

Yes, people in the academy care about racism, take it seriously, and want to gauge its impact & try to redress it. That's obviously not true of Alice & her friends.

Ah yes, taking racism seriously by slightly altering how one teaches Kant. Very serious gauging and redressing going on there. You absurd blowhard.

Anyway, you have completely and characteristically misunderstood the point of the tweet to which you're responding. Try to keep the context of the entire argument in mind and have another go at it.

Alice @AliceFromQueensReplying to @HeerJeet @jamesamarcus and 5 othersNo. You are simply pretending this is an argument about whether Kant is taught. It is not that, as most ppl observing have noticed. It is an argument about whether Kant is taught for his (to use an anachronism) right-wing beliefs. The answer to that is ofc that he is not.2 replies 0 retweets 14 likes -

Maybe we can compromise. We allow the administrators to plot devotional readings of the latest woke scribbling like DiAngelo and we hire another equally sized bureaucracy to plot devotional reading of snippets of Aristotle and Kant on slavery, women or race.

Well, I'm not in favor of teaching DiAngelo at all. But sure, teach Aristotle & Kant in full and in the round.

that is already what mainly happens in college, i believe . DiAngelo has the bigger purchase so to speak among business HR depts, high schools, book groups etc. Unless @GeorgKennan--currently a college student--would like to correct me?
