This is such a strange position to me. You don't have to do anything so mystical as "reading into people's souls" to distinguish between con artists and true believers. And to suggest the distinction between the two is irrelevant? I honestly don't get it.

It wouldn't be such a big deal except for the fact that provoking this take is *actually part of Carlson's game*. His grift—unlike that of a genuine white nationalist—is to get a bunch of people who like him but aren't white nationalists to get pissed when people call him that!
