At its core, this is the also the basic structure of antisemitic conspiracy theory. A secret cabal infiltrating an causing problems. Also reminiscent of how colonial bourgeoisie wrote about Haitian Revolution. Divisions could only be due outside instigators, not slavery itself.

Exactly. I actually think the source for this is the Catholic reactionary belief that Masons/Illuminati caused French Revolution, which in 19th century was grafted with older anti-Semitic myths.
