The proof Yglesias offers that CRT in pubic schools is a "real thing" is a 4 volume graduate text that costs $1,350. WorldCat reveals there are only 279 copies of this text in libraries in the entire world. Seems like a thin & dubious basis for anti-CRT laws all over USA https://twitter.com/mattyglesias/status/1405923688696930310 …

Hey, I generally love your tweets, but there is no doubt that the referent of the word “it” is the 4 volume treatise, which I trust exists, and not any claim about K12 education. There are, in fact, rules for assigning referents to pronouns and you broke them.

The referent If a pronoun is typically the noun or noun phrase which most closely precedes the pronoun. Rules not updated for Twitter, but I would add that you should not assert that a pronoun refers to text which is not in the same tweet.

He's saying the books are proof of CRT influence in K to 12 education & books are real. So influence of K to 12 education in schools is real. The realness of the books is only salient here as proof to there is an influence.
