Biden administration actions to defend American democracy do not match the urgency of the President’s rhetoric as yet. But Democrats in Congress — even the ones in the Senate — are not legally required to wait for instructions from the President before taking some initiative.

I think we need to give it time. I think he's going to try to let the DOJ handle it as a criminal matter, which in a sense is the triumph of institutions over the insurrectionists. But that needs to happen in earnest before next spring.

It's almost like both parties serve the same donor class, which holds capital interests above all else - democracy included. The best way counter weight to this is strong, grassroots movements in diametric opposition.

That quote is from Biden's inaugural address, so obviously democracy survived and Biden's actions matched the urgency. Democrats are fighting to expand voting rights, but casting Republican election victories as illegitimate is undemocratic.
