I think it is in Mauldin's postwar collection BACK HOME, published in 1948. Besides STARS AND STRIPES, the cartoon was published in newspapers around the country and lauded in editorials. MGM's GO FOR BROKE! (1951) is a pretty good combat film celebrating the 442nd.
