I've now reviewed a wide body of articles, news reports and legislative debates and I can conclude that the public/political debate abt critical race theory is quite stupid and laws banning it may be hard to enforce since no one has a clear idea of what it is.

Surely the goal is not to have enforceable laws but to intimidate teachers from talking about racism. A chilling effect.

to a significant degree. But I'm not sure there's necessarily that level of intentionality or perhaps nuance. Some of this we have to see through the prism of Fox indoctrination. CRT is ideational equivalent of antifa coming to yr suburb and burning down yr lawn furniture.

Well , what do the laws say specifically and who is at risk?

It has certainly morphed into genuine moral panic. Only slightly less restrained than this:pic.twitter.com/1UOg8KxT8S

that's kind of my thought. it's as much moral panic as a brush back pitch to warn people off discussions of race.

I think the main thing is a new shiny object for rightwing media to dangle in front of their rubes for ratings. Then GOP politicos think they can get some mileage out of it. The actual real world policy changes are just side effects of the hatemongering.

& larger goal is: Continue the long term Right Wing disinfo media program of demonizing Dems & fear/hate mongering, to get GOPers elected. It's how GOP won more down ballot races than Dems & use the power to suppress votes How Propaganda Works—the Formulahttps://medium.com/@upine/few-people-see-how-propaganda-works-heres-the-formula-fa8b9f51c01e …

If we wanted to solve the problems of racism or of democracy being destroyed, we cd fight the propaganda effectively. We know how. We've done it effectively B4 in a different context. Yes -- seems the point is to target whatever speech they don't like, call it "critical race theory," and use the law to tamp down. I have a Ph.D. and three masters degrees, one in the social sciences, and even I can't easily define what critical race theory is.
