Based on my listening to revolutions podcast it seems like they way more often divert a revolution into crowning a new king who ends up being pretty similar to the old king.

Mirabeau was a pretty good revolutionary (for the early phase, anyway) and was basically doing it entirely because he was pissed off that he wasn't influential enough as a courtier
