Fox definitely has power...but their power is definitely also waning. The two things are not mutually exclusive.

If their power over the GOP is waning that's only because they're losing market share to OAN and Alex Jones. It's not reasonable to imply that as they wane something sane and responsible is replacing them.

The most generous reading is that they are basic contrarians who must prove their bona fides by railing against whomever is in charge. But that reading falls apart when you realize they also near-exclusively criticize Dems when they’re in the minority, as well.
