Hmmm.... I thought it'd become clear among economists that they've been getting an awful lot wrong over the last few decades. Especially on 'rational actor' nonsense. But tenure doesn't seem to stop academics from resist new ideas that challenge those they built their careers on

For a number of reasons, economists are a conservative subset of academics, much like rational choice social scientists are a conservative subset. Part of that is a theoretical model that assumes a 'market man' -- a possessive individualist.

In the case of economists, it is attenuated by being trained during four decades of hegemony of neo-liberalism and market fundamentalism. It has been a long time since Keynesianiam was under real policy consideration, and that has intellectual impact. 2/
