2. Biden's decision to not go strong on voting issues is premised on reality that Dems can pass economic stuff with reconciliation but not voting acts. And state of economy will decide 2022/24. There's a logic here, but it's also a gamble. More here:https://jeetheer.substack.com/p/is-biden-punting-on-voting-rights?r=bh54&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email&utm_source=twitter …

Voting has no place in a democracy!

The rhetoric of an existential threat to democracy - which I happen to believe is valid! - is being used exclusively for fundraising. For governing, they're simply doing the same old learned helplessness routine.

It's quite disheartening and we're likely to see the typical D tactics through 2022. Scolding to get out the vote, touting of the nothing-burger legislative record, and claimed bafflement when the Rs wipe them off the electoral map. Then decamp to corp gigs ala Tom Perez.

It seems pretty clear that they see the existential threat as gop officials refusing to certify an election and HR1 doesn’t address that and they don’t know what to do about it

If you tell people democracy is at stake but then don't act like you think democracy is at stake, voters won't take you/the threat seriously!

None of the goals of the Biden admin seem to be particularly a priority, he spent 30 years in the senate but doesn’t seem to know how it works

The play seems to be that they need to show people the material benefits of Democrats governing in order to win votes, with process reforms coming afterwards. They will hopefully still pivot to voting rights later.
-
If that's your position, you're required to hold your breath.

I don't really see any option where this isn't a loser for him to make a big deal of. Make material gains and try to win the midterms seems to be the only path forward. Unless he can secretly get people to change minds on the filibuster we're kind of stuck on process.
