Seeking "control, if they ever had it" is (to my mind) misguided, but yes to access and interpretation, to scholars having a fluid conversation about this guy.

His only comment in an interview was diffident and not serious. Also if he wanted to do so it was a part of plan to have Bailey stand as the last word -- that's obviously not going to happen now!
