It's not an argument to hire NHJ, but it does defeat your argument that NHJ's tenure offer was "political." Her tenure offer wasn't a special political exception from the norm; denying her tenure IS a special political exception, and this is a conventional academic freedom story.
Like I said, I'm on board with a critique of J-school. But if you have j-schools, then NHJ is definitely qualified (indeed overqualified) for any post.
