European social-democrats pre-1914 were either indifferent or even in some cases inimical to anti-colonialism (moving countries back to feudalism etc), so I think the 1920 decision to include anti-imperialism in Marxism was crucial.

What about the Turkish Revolution? Setting an example for many not only in terms of defeating imperialism but also doing it without a Marxist or Socialist agenda. Mostly a fast forwarded reformation & modernization of an agrarian & feudal society through 'western' methods?
