Yeah, this is the point. God knows I don't expect Cathy in particular to read every one of my tweets -- in fact, I actively discourage it. But this has been a general silence, not just her. The lesson here is painfully obvious.

Horse shit. There's a whole industry of culture war journalists covering campus free speech. If what it takes for them to learn about a story of this scale, one that was extensively covered in the mainstream, non-CW press, is me DMing them, their journalism methods are broken.

Why is the burden on Sachs to do something rather then the cancel culture grifters (who make a lot of money as supposed defenders of free speech) to actually follow the news? Especially since he's already been active in publicizing story?

Apparently, "grifter," in the new lingo, means "someone who earns money for journalism/advocacy promoting ideas I don't like." (Whether it's "Never Trump" or critiques of "Cancel Culture.") That word is my cue to not participate in the conversation.

That's too bad because it's worth paying attention when even people whose politics you share or partly share are engaged in dubious stuff (I think the history of the Lincoln Project is instructive).

I think there are times when it applies, yes (like when people are raising huge amounts of money and misusing it for their personal benefit rather than the intended purposes).

Replying to @CathyYoung63 @HeerJeet and
Or when someone gloms onto a cause in a way that strongly suggests they're cynically milking it for gain (e.g. Candace Owens). Here, though, it's clearly being used to refer to people who are doing perfectly legit punditry and advocacy, just with a slant you dislike.

I disagree about the value and cogency of their work. Let's leave it at that.
