Well I'm not calling anyone a grifter here, but I don't think it should fall to an adjunct instructor at a Nova Scotian university who's buried underneath a mountain of term papers to privately alert free speech journalists about a story covered in the Canadian national press.

Apparently, "grifter," in the new lingo, means "someone who earns money for journalism/advocacy promoting ideas I don't like." (Whether it's "Never Trump" or critiques of "Cancel Culture.") That word is my cue to not participate in the conversation.

That's too bad because it's worth paying attention when even people whose politics you share or partly share are engaged in dubious stuff (I think the history of the Lincoln Project is instructive).
