It's always cute when the "cancel culture crowd" is accused of ignoring a story no one has heard of. Have any of Azarova's supporters tried to publicize it? (also, I see a leading academic org. in Canada is sanctioning the school over this.)https://twitter.com/HeerJeet/status/1388890472089718785 …

Human Rights Watch -- not an obscure organization -- has spoken out. Yet the cancel culture grifters ignored them.

Why have you ignored this story until now, Jeet? I see it's been around since September. You're not exactly without means to publicize it in the American media.

I tweeted about the story when it first broke, to general silence.

Not everyone has seen every single one of your or Jeffrey's tweets!

Aside from my tweets it's been reported in the major Canadian media (Globe & Mail, Toronto Star). Since donor responsible for unhiring is also a sitting federal judge, it's a big political story. Yet: silence among usual suspects.

Yeah, this is the point. God knows I don't expect Cathy in particular to read every one of my tweets -- in fact, I actively discourage it. But this has been a general silence, not just her. The lesson here is painfully obvious.

The lesson may also be that it's a pretty complicated story in which an independent review by a respected judge found that there was no undue donor influence or violation of academic freedom! (I know you disagree with it, but still, it's fact.)

Canadian judge found another Canadian judge did nothing wrong but the major professional association that monitors speech in Canadian universities disagrees in a incredibly rare rebuke.https://www.caut.ca/latest/2021/04/caut-council-imposes-rare-censure-against-university-toronto-over-azarova-hiring …
