2. The cult of Musk is very strong (just tweet a criticism of Musk & you'll see). The cult seems is the centrist know-it-all equivalent of Trumpism: the billionaire savior who breaks the rules is the only one who can save us in a period of stagnation & decadence!

For some reason people assume that opinions from rich/successful people not in their field of expertise is more important than experts in the field.

To be fair, Elon Musk has no actual area of expertise aside from inheriting a fortune and using it to pay other people to be experts and then take the profits from their work.
