The Philip Roth biography has a joint copyright for both the author Blake Bailey and the Philip Roth estate. I've never seen anything like this. Does anyone know what is going on?pic.twitter.com/dJxmkrQXJE

I've never heard of it before. But I can't say it's anything I've ever paid attention to. I guess the more interesting aspect is less the money than control. Suggests that his estate controls the text.
Which may come in handy if they need to ditch the author!
I'm not sure, but I know of at least one example: Jerry Lee Lewis owns the copyright to his authorized bio, written by Rick Bragg.
Well you should contact Andrew Wylie: he’s the agent for the Roth estate and presumably was involved in negotiating this arrangement. It does make you wonder if it would’ve read Copyright Philip Roth were he still living.
