My memory is that people who opposed the war thought Bush was lying about everything. I certainly did. (The chief proof of which was that there were too many distinct reasons given for war, which suggested ulterior motive). Distrust of WMD claim subset of larger distrust.

Yes, obviously. It was clear Bush wanted to use 9/11 to go to war with Iraq and since Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 it followed that everything about that war was probably a lie.

High school me is on some BBC call-in show saying exactly this! I don't think someone with a squishy brain like me would have come to that conclusion unless there were a robust number of people saying it. To act like there was general agreement that there were WMDs...no

Lots of people opposed it for lots of reasons, but "rave reviews" for a state official doing a presentation probably didn't come from.... people who opposed the war. Like, the media was super in the tank and half the democrats voted for it, but it's never been true that the

I was in high school, I didn’t know if there were Nuclear weapons but I would have told you that’s not the reason we were attacking them. My reasoning at the time was that there was way more evidence that North Korea had WMDs and no talk of invasion.
