18th and Nineteenth century nationalists and centralizers aren't really that connected to modern conservatism. I mean Hamilton is a hero to many liberals and even socialists. The early 20th century popular right was very anglophobic & isolationist. John Lukacs good on this.

I guess I associate "right" with "conservative", the latter of which has been pretty consistently Anglophilic. I don't have any knowledge on the opinions of England among populists.

Hamilton v Jefferson doesn't map onto 21st century political divisions. But Hamilton was the "conservative" faction of the time.
