If publisher took books out print for allegedly being offensive then the libraries are in tough position keeping them in kids section. Gatekeepers reinforce gatekeepers.

Moving those books to the adult section would make a lot of sense & be preferable. It goes along with my own policy solution which is that Seuss be re-classified as an adult writer. Not sure whether either the Seuss estate or librarians would agree.

Granted, but one common principle is that irreplaceable books that are the subject of controversy may need protection from amateur volunteer censors.
