There's some pessimism about 2022 but should factor in possible grounds for hope: 1) stimulus & pandemic end could create Biden boom 2) Dem coalition now has more college educated, who vote in mid-terms 3) without Trump on ticket, GOP culture war pitch could fizzle as in 2018.

Ultimately comes down to the boom economy. If we really do see 5% growth in 2021 and 2022, the Democrats will probably keep their majorities and maybe even expand on them. If growth is anemic, we won't. Boom times do seem more likely than not, though.

It's going to be a challenge for the left to navigate a boom economy, particularly given that there hasn't been anything approaching that level of growth since the turn of the millennium.
