I’ve heard a hilariously bad “copyright should end thirty years after publication” take that I assumed was related to Seuss. Because artists don’t need to eat obvs. :p

The vast majority of things "protected" by copyright aren't created by artists. But if copyright is about feeding artists, perhaps the term should be reduced to life: dead artists don't need to eat.

Haven't heard anything. Not surprising either since it would weaken the outrage machine with actual policy proposals.

Capitalism is fine with long copyright as long as corporations can claim it too. And anything else, it just steals because creators can't fight them (see a tonne of graphics and images taken off creator's pages and used by big companies in merch and advertising.)
