In red and purple states Democrats ran very moderate and sometimes conservative Senate candidates -- McGrath, Bullock, Cunningham -- who didn't appeal to "cultural values of urban college graduates" & often lost anyways. Am I the only one who remembers this or am I nuts?https://twitter.com/jbarro/status/1367120245845086211 …

The whole narrative that Dems underperformed in 2020 because they were too woke & police defunding & using Latinx all the time is very strange since the ticket was headed by Joe fucking Biden who ran on giving more money to cops, beating socialism & bipartisanship.

The argument here seems to be that Democrats shouldn't run Angela Davis or Noam Chomsky in red and purple states. But guess what? They're not running those candidates. They're already running moderate candidates in red & purple states.

The argument they're making is that he and the rest of the party was dragged down by wokeness.

Defund the police / “largest protest movement in us history” are also the only things that spiked new voter engagement for most of 2020.. without those registrations/volunteer engagements I’m pretty sure Biden loses a narrow race (while winning the popular vote by ~6mil.)

Can't find it off the top of my head, but I distinctly remember a pew poll that basically found that voters have no idea what either party's policy positions really are. A majority of North Carolina Democratic primary voters believe Joe Biden supported Medicare for All.

That being the case it seems like it doesn't matter whether or not Joe Biden actually wants to defund the police or whatever but whether or not people believe he does.

True but Republicans didn’t really run against him. They ran against the hard left (AOC, Harris, etc.) and tried to tar Biden and other moderates by association.

Biden was a moderate candidate who attracted GOP and Independent voters, but because of the “defund the police” faction, those same voters split the ticket to balance things out. The radical left lost those seats for us.

Certainly this is the story. But it's just a story. It's an exercise in "whatever the data is, blame the left."
