1. I have some good news and bad news about Trump's CPAC speech.

3. The bad news is that Trump even if Trump doesn't run again he's very intent on maintaining his stranglehold on the GOP. Many gestures about punishing his Republican enemies.

4. In other ways beyond Trump's speech, CPAC showed a Trumpized GOP. Trump may or may not run again but the Trumpization of GOP is continuing. The Civil War in party is over & Trump has won. More here:https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/trump-speech-cpac-gop/ …

Trump has good reason to try a 3rd time. Right now, his cumulative loss margin is 10 million. Mondale is currently all-time leader in this category with a 17M loss in 1984, but if Trump can just match his 2020 loss margin, he can pass Mondale and be the greatest loser of all time

As I told you when you over-interpreted a press release.

CPAC 2021 itself was pretty low energy. I've been to corporate required training events that were livelier-although maybe it was the free bagels that excited us.

he obviously cut a deal to not run again in exchange for the senate impeachment outcome, but also to not say this openly for awhile so he can gradually shepherd his loyalists back toward the gop mainline in such a way as seems authentic to them

Because Trump always pays his debts?

I'm solidly of the opinion that he will not run again, mainly because a) he had a great time running for president but was miserable the whole time he had the job, and b) there's a risk that he'd lose.
