Even in the time before, I have never visited a small, elite liberal arts college where I did not have at least one slightly alarming and vaguely conspiratorial encounter that I did not fully understand.

Very desirable but, agreed not likely. Still, these institutions and the role they play in society shouldn't be seen as impervious to change.

they should lose non-profit status and be forced to spend down their obscene endowments. Ideally, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, etc. should be fused with the public universities in their states. They educate a fraction of college students in the US

AFAIK the only legislation threatening their endowments came from Republicans. Not surprisingly.

Even just stripping them of non profit status would be fantastic. There is not going to be a consumer boycott bc of credential inflation but the Ivies are little more than prestige hoarders and networking opportunities now
