Molloy is the one that floored me, holy smokes
-
That book rocked me so hard I went back to Beckett’s novel trilogy for my undergrad thesis at Harvard. Homi Bhabha was one of my readers & said my thesis was both revelatory & utterly useless JFC

@brentwoodschool from 7-12 grade. Very much a scholarship student. The experience made an English major out of me, and then a writer. Deep gratitude (though it was a v problematic space to grow up in in some ways) -
That's an incredibly impressive list of books to have read in high-school, I have to say.

Indeed, these books seem more suitable for college. Most high schoolers IMO just not ready for them.

No shit! As I Lay Dying, in high school? I **love** an English teacher with unreasonably high standards. (Finnegan's Wake should've been on the syllabus, though.)
-
I had to read it and write an essay on it as a freshman to get into an an AP english class in my high school. We did read both Finnegan's Wake and Ulysses in that AP class.
