Writing in National Review in 1965, L. Brent Bozell, Jr. warned that liberal Catholics were promoting, "a 'dialogue' with homosexuals; nuns dressed like all the other ladies; priests as family men;...racial equality as the age's transcendent moral demand...."

What Bozell's biography makes clear is that a lot of Tradcath stuff is just LARPing. Pretending you can revive the Middle Ages. Which is okay, unless you go the full Don Quixote & actually attack a wind mill (or an abortion clinic, as the case maybe).

You’re reading a Brent Bozell biography? Is it “Living on Fire”? Does it talk about his time in Spain? I’m very interested. Please, do tell.

I’m thinking of expanding this piece on Buckley, especially the ties with Franco and Spanish Catholicism. Bozell is, of course, key to that relationship. So, I’d love to know about any good sources you might have.

Patrick Allitt's book on Catholic Right is better, I think.

And there are some doctoral theses out there about Triumph magazine. But the Spanish stuff is understudied. As I said, the biography is pretty cursory and I'd like to know more about actual Carlist Bozell might have been in contact with.

I’ll let you know as soon as I turn to researching it more thoroughly. I might’ve missed it, but I didn’t see much on this in Spanish either when I researched this piece years ago.
