If the filibuster exists and Ds could be gerrymandered out of the House for another decade wouldn't we want as strong a Presidency as possible for the brief moments we have it?

I tend to agree. As long as the changes go into effect at the start of the next administration. We will need many years of “raw executive power” (as charged against Biden in the ridiculous freak out over his use of exec orders) just to return to equilibrium.
