I'm enjoying a genre of novel best described as "amusing mid-century," so my sister @mirandafeathers recommended Our Spoons Came from Woolworth's (Barbara Comyn). Just picked it up from my library and noticed: @EmilyGould wrote the intro @nyrbclassics! Now I'm even more excited!

Have you read Anthony Powell? Very much amusing mid-century (although also beloved by Henwood-foe Perry Anderson, so that might cut against it).

The Dance To the Music of Time sequence is where to start (the 1930s novels are a bit too Wauvian in their hard-heartedness).
