So wasn't Larry Summers kicked out as president of Harvard because one of his cronies was doing super corrupt things in Russia? I mean did I imagine that? And shouldn't that impinge on our sense of whether he should be listened to?

So, to clarify, Summers wasn't fired but he resigned as president of Harvard (when it was clear he lost confidence of the Board and was facing firing). One factor, among several, seems to be this fishy Russia business:https://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/27/business/media/did-an-expose-help-sink-harvards-president.html …

I can't recall if that was why he was kicked out as president of Harvard, but yes there was a bunch of funny business among economists "helping" Russia. It's been filed in the memory hole.

Larry Summers has done a lot of things that should impinge on our sense of whether he should be listened to.

Summers was at the Treasury at that time but no one ever really paid the price for the US' terrific idea to destroy the population of the post-Soviet states and turn them into a corrupt hellhole.https://www.institutionalinvestor.com/article/b150npp3q49x7w/how-harvard-lost-russia …
