I was going to explore #WandaVision but I don’t have time to drop out of the paid workforce for 25 months to get all the necessary backstory necessary to understand what’s happening

I told my mom she'd need to watch a couple movies to understand "Avengers: Infinity War," and she called me after she watched it to say it was insulting to suggest she couldn't follow it. Obviously she didn't know everybody's backstories but it didn't seem to bother her.

I'm with her. Infinity War was my first MCU. I went in knowing nothing other than recognizing the names of a few characters :D Strapped in, held on, and was hooked!

I'm caught up on it, but only because I worked part-time for longer than I'd like to admit while raising a boy in the target age range.

This has been the problem with comic books since I was in high school. Too much like a soap opera. You can't just dip in. You have to dive in. You can start anywhere, as long as you're prepared to become obsessed from that point.

It's a problem in comics, but Disney Plus has a quick video called "Legends" that summarizes the characters their backstories.
