Based on the “expert” analysis (including Obama treasury economists - if that’s something you trust) - yes, they say it’s a net plus Makes sense - this new program is much simpler, read cheaper to administer, so you can make the benefits more generous

I think this is the first actual policy proposal I've heard from a Republican in 4 years. Might be longer ago than that, now that I think of it. When was the last time a Republican proposed something that wasn't a tax cut?

You’re right, and Mitt will not GIVE anyone a dime, he’s still a conservative Republican that cares a hell of a lot more about money than people. Look at the fine print people, this isn’t a good long term solution.

That’s basically what Germany does, and it’s super-simple, because they don’t bother with means-testing (that’s what graduated income tax rates are for!)

Well-off families stick it in the kid’s savings account and go on paying their higher income taxes, poorer families are relieved that they can get the kid new winter clothes without a hassle
