My two-cents: Hitchens was an important writer & deserves a good biography. Maybe the guy working on this book is a dumb-dumb but he should still get a chance. The NYT article is a bit silly. If those who were close to Hitchens think that this is going to be a trashy tabloid bio, no one should feel obligated to participate. There’s nothing weird about sharing that message after reading the proposal for the book.

It just says the widow isn't participating and asking friends not to participate. I guess that can count as "opposing" it but by that standard biographical works are "opposed" all the time
