I don't know how much time you spend in protestant churches, but corny jokes like this are very common. That's why I thought this whole thing was the usual culture war bullshit (with, ironically, secular right-wingers leveraging their ignorance of protestantism folk-ways).

I think that was an easy mistake to make, as almost nobody knows about that, and it did sound like someone was trying a little too hard to be inclusive.

I think people who spend time in Protestant churches -- which is a big chunk of the population -- do know about that.

This confirms my opinion that it's a very limited thing that few Protestants know about.

I feel like this shows how a lot of things in the black church are invisible to white America. The (failed) attacks on Warnock showed the same thing.

How would they become more visible?

People could stop pretending that the only type of Christians are white evangelicals, which is the impression the media creates.

Blacks are more likely to be Christians than whites. I don't think I'm the only one who knows this.
