        Many do, and fairly - - because it was the dictionary in use at the time the Constitution was written, and the best resource for what words meant.

        Was going to ask that! Prior to Darwin was not well understood that non-interbreeding species were related by ancestry. So a “reptile” was likely anything having physical characteristics similar to other known reptiles
