The fact that a good chunk of Republicans are on board shows how good the politics of this are for Democrats -- and also calls into question those centrist pundits who wanted the Dems to be satisfied with $600.https://twitter.com/Taniel/status/1343693410042044420 …

The GOP is great at taking care of the billionaires.https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/22/us/politics/whats-in-the-covid-relief-bill.html?referringSource=articleShare …

yea and so are democrats, but thats not the argument... we are talking about how the politics in this country has shifted and Republicans are able to expose the democrats, not because they are better, but because they are able to correctly understand what is going on

How do you look at vote counts in the House and Senate and still come to that conclusion in 2020?

I get your point, but I also know that you don't believe someone's politics can be summarized in a single vote. This is very kind to Republicans who openly supported the shittiest president in a long time, and who would gladly do it again.

I really don't understand why McConnell and Perdue/Loeffler don't just do a bargain with themselves where McConnell fakes resistance and Perdue/Loeffler whip support and get it passed. $450 billion feels like a small price to maintain senate control.

Also to be clear...I'd rather Ossoff and Warnock won. But I don't get this strategic misstep.

The House passed the bill for $2,000 checks by meeting the 2/3rds threshold for an expedited "suspendion of the rules" process.
Now
on McConnell (and Perdue, and Loeffler).
