Maybe, but anytime the sound strategy is “shut up and get out of Trump's way,” Dems have a significantly better track record. And that's pretty much all they have to do at this point, having already embraced the proposal.

You're ignoring that most Dems only want the minimum amount of stimulus needed. If the public finds out giving more people more money is in general good it threatens the economic power structure/the general austerity from which they benefit
