Polling very consistently showed that Trump's greatest strength was economy. So a second generous stimulus would have helped & likely put him over the top.

Yes, I think about this often, and it's why Democrats absolutely must get over their obsession with "budget deficits," because it's those so-called "budget deficits" that are putting desperately needed money in people's hands!https://twitter.com/JamesRobichaux/status/1340879442827223042?s=20 …

Democrats would do well to get into the habit of leading with a qualifier, the likes of which @AOC made here that I highlighted, when responding to GOP concerns about the so-called "deficit." We cannot validate the premise that "the deficit" is an actual problem. pic.twitter.com/6yD9Mh29zg

Over the last year, I have seen PLENTY of progressive, liberal, etc., people rag Trump and the GOP over "the deficit," and I am like, "STOP, what are you doing?"https://twitter.com/JamesRobichaux/status/1340881018891497473?s=20 …

As Doctor Kelton says, just pointing out GOP hypocrisy on "the deficit" is not enough, not when we still live in a society in which most people still think that "the deficit" is an actual problem. https://twitter.com/StephanieKelton/status/1339978020640141318?s=20 …

It really depends on how much the swing/undecided voters in the swing states needed more help. It’s not clear to me undecided voters were the most in need.

Also if someone is in greater need they may be pissed that you allowed them to be put them in “greater need” and therefore the “help” is just like making things even.

All this intuition says is that we can be sure Democrats in Congress would not make any effort to claim credit for or brand themselves with an economic benefits package. Sad!

I doubt that there were many minds left to be changed at that point, but I love the idea of Trump being gnawed by regret for the rest of his life at all the small things that could have put him over the line.
