I'm taking part in a public Zoom reading of "A Christmas Carol" on Monday night. Boy, does my section have some sneaky tongue-twisters in it—and WAY TOO MANY COMMAS.

Dickens was a writer who tailored his work for public reading and I think the commas are meant to help guide recitation. Think of them as a score!
