1. The sale of Bob Dylan's massive catalogue of 6,000 songs to Universal Music is a reminder of his towering impact not just as a singer but also as songwriter. Next to the Beatles, no other modern songwriter has been so frequently covered.

The most interesting part of that story was that he is the copyright holder of "The Weight" despite Robertson being listed songwriter. I've always suspected Dylan wrote a number of the Band's songs that he's not credited on.

Interesting comment about Rick Nelson. I saw Dylan w Petty/Heartbreakers/Grateful Dead in 86, and Dylan spoke about him w great affection before playing Nelson's "Lonesome Town". The man is always full of surprises.
