Here in the U.S., I wanted to get the slogan “Defund Education” going, but it turns no one was interested because we do it every year. Works for all public services.

All the points in that discussion are true, but “defund the police” is far too easy to attack. It has specific meaning and is vague at the same time. Defund police brutality. Defund police immunity. It needs to get at the heart of the problem.

Nah, slogans are very powerful. Lots of public servant groups have significant political power. The far-left kept pushing 'defund the police' even as moderates told them how damaging it would be. It wasn't even popular in the black community that's how awful a slogan it was.
