Just rewatched it with the kids. The best live-action rendering of comic-book narrative, tone, and visual logic I’ve ever seen.

It’s incredible how much stuff he fits together and how efficiently it all works. The train sequence takes like 20 percent as long as an MCU movie would require for it and it’s perfect.

Really? A train full of people somberly carrying Spiderman with a very silly amount of Jesus subtext and you never once thought he'd maybe misjudged the tone of old Spidey books?

Yep. I was just re-reading the Ditko-Lee Spider-Man and it's very clear the formative influence as 1930s/1940s melodramatic crime movies -- really give the story the feeling of morality plays.

How come some young people don't strongly identify with these movies made in the early 2000's based on comics from the 60's based on movies from the 30's feels like a question that contains its own answer.

You're the one who claimed the film changed the tone from the comics, you can't just be like "well adhering to the comics is bad actually" now. It's obviously fine not to like the movie, but don't do this bullshit, it's annoying
