Well, as is always the case every election cycle, no one really has a good handle on where the money was spent, or on what. Certainly the ninety mil or whatever to McGrath would have been better spent on bonfires, but in general we don't know where it went or how it was used.

And, to be clear, I'm not talking here about fraud or corruption or whatever. I just mean that it's nearly impossible to reconstruct how campaigns allocate resources in a way that provides useful information for analysis.
