It's true, Biden's "We must defund the police" slogan was a serious tactical error, I don't know what he was thinking embracing this sloganhttps://twitter.com/JamesSurowiecki/status/1334140495585546241 …

"Defund the police" has become a scapegoat for Democrats in districts that were always going to be hard to win - because they are SWING districts. Dems picked up formerly red or purple districts in '18. Why did anyone assume they would keep them all. I never understood that.
-
Yeah this is the answer. There was hope for a larger blue advantage than manifested resulting in a lot of acrimony and finger pointing, but really it was just a normal election and nothing very bad happened.

So basically, “your evidence doesn’t align with my intuition based on something vaguely similar from the past”

If you seriously don’t understand why ads about an immigrant caravan that Dems had nothing to do with were less effective than ads about defunding the police, I don’t know what to tell you.
-
So your argument is now that because Dems didn't have anything to do with MS-13 and the caravan, that's why it didn't resonate - even as you claim that Democratic candidates who repeatedly and forcefully rejected defund the police lost because of it anyway? Pick one, man.
