Agree a lot of the pro-science rhetoric is too glib -- there needs to be better public education on why science as a process that deserves support rather than just "we should listen to science."https://twitter.com/FranklinH3000/status/1328379917055168513 …

    Jeet Heer added,

    Franklin Harris @FranklinH3000
Not sure the portrayal of science as some Platonic Ideal of a Philosopher King whispering Truth into the ears of the Enlightened rather than as a trial-and-error process whereby fallible humans with finite knowledge stumble in hopefully the right direction is good for science. https://twitter.com/PeteButtigieg/status/1327988151495905280 …

I am convinced that the worst thing for science and the fact a whole swath of Americans reject it is all because of the f*cking Food Pyramid and the fact it always seems to be changing.

Fun curriculum to develop. Can be game-ified. And reward "doing science".

The reward doesn't even have to be superimposed. Can be a natural outcome of the successful activity itself.

Science is, and will always be, political because it often demands changes from the status quo. Claims that it is somehow above politics are like religions denying political conversations because obviously god's will is holy

"Listen to science" is only a good slogan if people understand that scientists usually disagree about what "science says."
