Looks like we're heading towards an Avignon Presidency. As long as none of the military shift allegiance (and I don't think they will), it'll be incredibly funny.

I didn’t have any real doubt about this. But from what I can tell Gen Milley has been holding press briefings with virtually any reporter he can saying that they’re not getting involved in this nonsense.

Yeah, Milley's repeated statements that the military's loyalty is to the constitution are reassuring. The Proud Boys will be the army President-in-Exile Trump, which is worrisome enough but not on the level of a military coup.

Tricky bit is if a few states use gop legislators to appoint Trump electors, then the argument from Trumpers would be that is, in fact, constitutional.

It seems most likely he'd try to call out ICE who are intensely loyal to him. And it is disconcerting how many top military brass he's replacing with loyalists. I don't think it would be successful, but I also don't think we'll end up laughing about it if he tries.

Does the militarization of local police forces not scare you? Especially considering how rouge they've been IE: threatening Mayor de Blasio on Twitter and basically holding his daughter captive?
