This is not good and should be a key issue progressives mobilize on: to prioritize keeping deficits low over job creation would be a disaster -- and would set the stage for some really horrible election losses in 2022 and 2024.https://twitter.com/Claudia_Sahm/status/1327604157147123712 …

I really can't imagine looking at the world right now and thinking your job is to keep the deficit low. You have to really hate working people to think like that.

It was just reported by the NYT that Biden wants a $2 trillion stimulus, something Biden himself said on the record. Why is everyone pretending not to know this?

Thing is, the bond market is screaming for more debt. The only ones talking about the deficit are cranks trying to get a Constitutional Convention on a balanced budget to throw out other things (i.e. Scott Walker).

His proposals don’t look like that. They involve massive outlays. What’s the problem with giving lip service to the idea that the goal isn’t to break the bank? There are many audiences here. Progressives should maybe sit down and realize this isn’t for them.

Because less than two weeks ago Biden was found less likely by the people who voted to create Jobs than Trump. Yes Biden still won but this is a disaster of messaging, and likely impacted house and senate races.

Do you know why Republicans get away with deficit hawkery? because too many DEMOCRATS buy into it, and the Democratic politicians get away with it because too many liberal VOTERS buy into it, giving Trump and the Republicans grief about "the deficit."https://twitter.com/HeerJeet/status/1327658293980852226?s=20 …
