1. Make no mistake. A very impressive win on multiple levels. Defeating a sitting president is very, very hard in American system, especially if that president's party has only served 1 term. Only Carter defeat in 1980 in the last century is comparable. https://twitter.com/natemcdermott/status/1327333875190738945 …

5. One other way Biden's victory impressive. Only precedent is Carter. Carter in 1980 hurt by internal divisions (Kennedy's strong primary challenge) and 3rd party vote (Anderson). Also Fed Reserve's brutal rate hikes. In 2020 Fed Reserve's easy money helped Trump.

How steady is the wall, and how much was a matter of the specific Trump-Biden dynamic? Democrats did not appeal down ballot.

There are over 100 million workers their families in working class & they currently are political orphans. Neither party wants to stray from their donor class to help workers. The blue wall in particular is up for grabs & might end up being the start of a new progressive party.

I don't know. Biden may have done well, but "Democrats" sure as heck didn't.

I’m not convinced there is breathing room in the sun belt. Very close and trump turned off a bunch of normally R voters. A better candidate and I don’t think Ds win GA or AZ. Look at Ossoff v Perdue, Ossoff couldn’t seal the deal and I suspect both Ds will lose in GA.
